See the behind-the-scenes workings of news and sports radio station KGO AM 810 Newstalk radio with experienced sports journalist/reporter Kevin Radich, O'Dowd '78 graduate.  Student will shadow Kevin for the day.

Mentor: A Career in Sports/Facility Management
Join David Rinetti (O'Dowd class of '82), VP of Stadium Operations for the Oakland A's, for an afternoon or evening A's game (date and time to be mutually confirmed with Mr. Rinetti).  Enjoy a "backstage" tour of the A's facility, including a meal at the stadium Press Lounge and a pregame visit to the Press Box, Mr. Rinetti's office and an "on field" pregame experience.  Two tickets and a parking pass will be included in this experience.

Mentor - Pediatric Care
As the Director of Pediatric Critical Care at Kaiser Oakland Medical Center, Dr. James Hanson cares for critically ill patients from infancy through adolescence.  As a mentor he can discuss how physicians use their knowledge of physiology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, pharmacology, and psychology to support failing organs.  Depending on the interests of the student, other parts of the hospital may be explored, including the emergency room, intensive care nursery, and the operating room.  Since patients in the PICU require the care of multiple specialties and an interdisciplinary care team, the student will be exposed to many health careers.

Mentor - Maestro Michael Morgan

Delight in the experience of "A Day in the Life of Maestro Michael Morgan" - music director and conductor for the world-class Oakland East Bay Symphony.

Currently in his twentieth year as Music Director of Oakland East Bay Symphony, Michael  Morgan was born in Washington, DC, attended public schools and began conducting at the age of 12. While a student at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, he spent  a summer at the Berkshire Music Center at Tanglewood and worked with Leonard Bernstein. He makes many appearances in the nation's schools each year, particularly in the East Bay, and is highly regarded as a champion of arts education and minority access to the arts. This is a chance to shadow Mr. Morgan in his every day experience of planning, rehearsing, organizing and conducting. Schedule to be arranged with Mr. Morgan in advance and based upon his availability.
